Russian text display in the program

Dear support team,

We have incorrect display of Russian text when requesting research from the archive. When you open the study, the information about the patient correctly displays in Russian.

Help with the encoding. At us researches use utf-8. But the Russian text displays in the form of a krykozyabry. Specific Character Set: ISO Ir-192.

I have a similar problem with the search function when i use greek characters. It displays all the available exams in the pacs(based on dcm4che) in latin or greek characters(ISO-IR_126 Greek) correctly, but when i input a patients name in greek the result is to display all the examinations of all the patients(it is like i did not enter any name). When i use latin characters everything is ok. I have contacted the PACS administrator and they advised me to use ISO-IR_126 Greek, i wish i could use the search function...Do you have any idea??

As for the character set i have tried:

ISO-192 UTF-8 --> OK RADIANT
ISO-192 UTF-8 --> ERROR (not readable) KPACS
ISO-192 UTF-8 --> ERROR (not readable) EBW (Philips Extended Brilliance Workspace).

ISO 2022 IR126 --> ΟΚ RADIANT
ISO 2022 IR126 --> ΟΚ KPACS
ISO 2022 IR126 --> ERROR (not readable) EBW (Philips Extended Brilliance Workspace).

ISO-IR_126 Greek --> ΟΚ RADIANT
ISO-IR_126 Greek --> ΟΚ KPACS
ISO-IR_126 Greek --> ΟΚ EBW
ISO-IR_126 Greek --> ΟΚ OSIRIX

Once more i will like to thank you for your excellent work!!! Really appreciated :)

@Andrew

This is probably not RadiAnt's fault. We observed similar behavior when testing images with Russian names on Conquest server. The search results came in UTF-8, but no ISO_IR 192 specific character set was defined in response. On the other hand DCM4CHEE gave proper response.

@Loukas,

Currently search is performed only with ISO_IR 100 character set. We will add the option to set a custom search character set for each PACS location.

Excellent news! Thanks for clarifying that.
Looking forward to it.

Is there any way to to set a custom search character set for each PACS location in the new version (4.0.3)??
Maybe by editing the options.xml file ??
I tried:
<i18n>
<fiso>ISO_IR 126 Greek</fiso>
<!-- <fiso>ISO_IR 192</fiso> --> <!-- define specific character set which overrides value defined in (0008,0005) SpecificCharacterSet tag for all DICOM files -->
</i18n>

The search results haven't changed. I also tried
<fiso>ISO_IR 126</fiso>

No, there's still no way to set a preferred character set for the PACS search.

The option to set a custom character set for each PACS location was added in RadiAnt 4.1.17 BETA.

It works perfectly! I have set the character set at ISO-IR_126 Greek and it works both with greek small and capital letters. Moreover i can also search using latin characters without changing back to ISO_IR 100 character set.
Thumbs up guys!!! Thank you.

Hello I'm using RadiAnt, in Turkish names there is a problem. I selected "latine No:5" in the PACS configuration but characters doesn't seem right. Another DICOM viewer is showing characters correctly from same DICOM server, what can I do else?

If characters are not right, this means that your PACS server sends results with an incorrect character set specified. You can try to override it by setting it directly in RadiAnt: https://www.radiantviewer.com/dicom-viewer-manual/pacs-configuration.htm
