First BETA with the local archive (DB) feature

by RadiAnt
First public beta is almost ready. Drop us a line at https://www.radiantviewer.com/contact/ to preview it before anyone else ;-)

Note, the studies can be imported to DB only from a folder or CD/DVD in this version. Importing from PACS servers will be added in next versions (you can do it right now by downloading the study like in previous versions and then importing it from the temporary folder - AppData\Local\RadiantViewer - where RadiAnt stores downloaded DICOMs).

That's really great. I've used the private beta and it's awesome. Thank you for all your efforts.

I have only 1 question: is there a way to change the database path? (i want to store my file on D: instead of the default C: becaise of larger free space).

Thanks, morpheus!

Sure, you can change the location of the DB.
Just edit the \HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\RadiAnt Viewer\DBPath value in Registry.

Can't wait for small useful PACS server on SQLite from Radiant. Adding local DB is first step, i hope :)

You're certainly right, Aleksandr. The local DB is just the first step. There is no specific time frame, but it's going to happen some day ;-)

When "Local Archive" window is opened, if one try to close window by clicking Archive icon and selecting "Exit" it exits from all radiant windows. So, all opened patients will be gone!

This small UX problem should be corrected.

Actually, "Exit" means exitting RadiAnt and it is meant to terminate the application. If you want to hide the DB window, you just click the close button or press ALT+F4.
The same behavior of "Exit" occurs when clicked in the viewer window from the "Folder" menu.

Re: The same behavior of "Exit" occurs when clicked in the viewer window from the "Folder" menu.

Yes, but in this situation this "Exit" is the main menu of Radiant, meaning "Exit of Radiant".

May be just remove the "Exit" from DB window. For example, there is no "Exit" in Export, Import from PACS, MPR and also in 3D windows.

The DB window is different from other windows (PACS, MPR, etc.), however.
You can close all viewer windows and the DB window will remain visible. For many, the DB window will become the main window, where the studies will be imported and from which they will launch viewer(s) for specific studies. There will be an option to start RadiAnt with only the DB window by default.

I revealed that DB window can be separately stay opened while Radiant Viewer window is closed (with Alt+F4). So, now, I understand the meaning of "Exit" menu.

Whereas, the translation string of DB "Exit" differs from Viewer's "Exit" it can be used as "Exit All" or smth like this.

Hope to see "import ZIP" option with "Add links", because most of Radiologist keep their archives in HDD in ZIP files.

It's an early beta, all strings in the DB window are now hardcoded. They will be changed to translation strings later. Our focus is currently on the DB functionality, later there will be time for refinements, too ;-)

Great new feature.

In the beta version, I noticed that GPU rendering is not available anymore. I had it working in previous versions (I have a Quadro M1000M GPU).

The rendering feels smooth by the CPU, though.

after extensively playing with the new DB I can tell it rocks.
considering this is a beta release with initial support of the new feature it's very promising.

here's the list of some "must-have" features that will certainly be implemented:

1-import .ZIP files

2- option to automatically load the case once the images are imported

3- option to automatically show images while importing (iQ-VIEW has such a nice feature regarding studied that have beeing received by PACS); as soon a sequence is finished it would be loaded in the sequences preview bar and so long

4- option to automatically eject the CR once the images are imported by a CD/DVD location (never forget to give the patient his/her CD back)

5- option to change DB location from the GUI instead of going to the registry

6- customize DB fields (either order and which one should be the visible tags)

@marcelvn

CUDA SDK was updated from 9.1 to 9.2, most probably you have some older drivers. Please check with the latest drivers from NVIDIA.

@Tommy

Thank you for the extensive testing. All your points are valid and will be implemented (most of them before the first general release, I guess).
